Decoding Workplace Dynamics: The Key to Fostering Inclusion
Blog 1 of the series, explore the nuances of workplace dynamics that inadvertently marginalize underrepresented groups.
DECODING WORKPLACE DYNAMICS

In order to foster an inclusive environment for diverse employees, leaders must understand the complexities within workplace dynamics. This is the first in a series that delves into these behaviors that marginalize underrepresented groups.
The Self-Proclaimed Expert:
In workplaces, individuals often claim credit for their colleagues' ideas, particularly those whose voices are not as prominently heard. As the marginalized employee diligently works to establish their reputation and credibility, such individuals regrettably undermine these efforts, claiming credit for their ideas and contributions. This not only obstructs the progress of the marginalized employee but also corrodes the hard-earned reputation and credibility they aspire to cultivate within the workplace. Regrettably, these actions frequently slip by unnoticed, acting as barriers to collaboration and stifling the diversity of thought within the team.

The Performing Ally:
Now, turning our attention to the performing ally. These allies are conspicuous as their allyship is prominently visible, playing a significant role in shaping the overall perception of their values and beliefs. This constraint curtails the marginalized individual’s capacity to spotlight the adverse behavior they endure at the hands of this person. To external observers, this individual might be perceived as authentic, thereby casting doubt on any contrasting perspective.
